Can I add dearest/vanilla bean/orang citrus to aging barrel?

Is it possible to add dear directly to my aging barrel? What about vanilla
edible bean? What virtually orange zest? Dehydrated fruit?

Can I do the first corking on my butt with a honey mead/sherry wine
mixture? Or a sherry and honey uncomplicated syrup?

Flavoring raw grain alcohol

My butt is a five liter "medium char" if it helps

Very modest amounts of all these "adjuncts" are all that is needed.

A couple of raisins, a couple of dried cherries, a few java beans...to a gallon makes a big statement after a couple of weeks.

I put a teaspoon of sherry in a two and a half gallon barrel of rum.

The zest of citrus takes a bit more, than I expected.

Dear is a dif consequence...heat the honey in some other fluid earlier adding. A teaspoon of beloved in a eight ounces of water heated to 140 deg F and add together small-scale amounts to a gallon of alcohol. If yous don't heat it information technology will drop piddling brown balls of protein to the bottom afterwards a few days or a week.

If information technology does drop the little brown balls, filter then out at bottling.

Use natural items, vanilla beans not vanilla excerpt...

Is it possible? If you tin stuff it down the hole and then let your imagination go wild. If yous don't like the outcome the try something else...unless you thew in lead weights and rat poison, then it would be safe to say you did it incorrect merely won't be making many more mistakes...ever. A new butt already has vanillin in the wood, and so be careful non to over do it. Adding vanilla bean is adept a fox for using old barrels, glass jars, nuking, spiced rum, etc..

I did the commencement nifty with water. In that location will be a lot of debris within a new barrel that I washed out. Not sure I needed to, but there is a lot of crap in there. Saw grit, charred bits that feel off, cooper'south hair...

Also, exist fix to patch leaks. New or used it may leak. Bees wax is your friend here. Every where information technology leaked I rubbed a small amount of wax over the leak.

Adjacent time I volition not only fill up the barrel, but submerse it so that the outside swells as the within does.

Flavoring raw grain alcohol

Can you elaborate on what raw grain alcohol is?

To me a raw grain alcohol would be something like everclear. Not a grain whiskey or bourbon. And everclear would not ne my choice for barrel aging.

Although you can add any number of things to a barrel for crumbling. I would suggest y'all starting time with nothing only a good whitedog whiskey or bourbon. So that yous know what the wood volition really requite you.

Not to mention when you add together any of these to a butt. You then ruin it for normal barrel aging of some other production. You tin barrel age information technology for a bit. And so glass age it with whatsoever flavor additives you want. To enhance the flavors you got from the forest. The manner you lot see fit.

consider that perfum uses alcohol as a carrier or solvent for the olfactory property. it works exponentially well to "explode" the flavours off your tastebuddies when the ethanol hits your tongue, warms up and vapourizes the flavour molecules.

less is more. a little dab 'll do ya. ...if not you can always add together more. hard as hell to take out tho...

I finally quit drinking for good.

now i drink for evil.

Barrels don't grow on trees ya know. I add pineapple, vanilla bean, etc. into a gallon jug subsequently I empty my barrels. I generally only season rum but I only have two rum barrels. I might not similar all my rum to taste similar pineapple.
